1Password Business for Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot
IT admins and security leads ask Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot about 1Password Business: which groups and people can reach each vault, who has not finished setting up their account, Watchtower findings in shared vaults, recent sign-in and item activity. Passwords and other item contents are never returned. Vault access changes are previewed and approved. A guided pilot comes first, so you can confirm what the connection can and cannot see.

Changes, governed
What the assistant can prepare in 1Password Business
The assistant never saves on its own. It prepares the change, the person checks the preview and confirms, and anything above your limits waits for an approver.
- 1 Prepare The assistant drafts the change from the request.
- 2 Preview and confirm The person sees exactly what will change.
- 3 Approve Above your limits, a second person decides.
- 4 Saved and logged Written to 1Password Business under a named person.
-
Grant a group access to a vault
The vault owner approves, and vaults marked sensitive also need the security lead.
-
Suspend a team member who is leaving
HR confirms the date, and an IT admin approves the suspension.
-
Begin an account recovery for a locked-out member
A second admin approves after confirming the person's identity.
Example rules. During the pilot you set the limits, the approvers and which roles may prepare each change.
Why it needs care
Governance built for 1Password Business
1Password holds the credentials to almost every system, so vault access is among the most sensitive settings a company has. The assistant works from vault names, permissions and activity, never item contents. Granting a group access to a sensitive vault needs the security lead too, and an account recovery waits for a second admin to check identity.

1Password Business questions
Can the assistant read passwords from 1Password?
No. The connection is set up so item contents, such as passwords, notes and one-time codes, are never returned. The assistant works with vault names, permissions, members and activity, which is enough for access questions.
Can it start an account recovery?
It can prepare one for a named member. A second admin approves after confirming the person's identity, which protects against someone pretending to be locked out to take over an account.
Does it help with offboarding?
Yes. IT can ask which vaults a leaver can reach and which shared items they created, then prepare the suspension for approval, so shared vault access ends on their last working day.
Does mcpbizapps keep a copy of our 1Password Business data?
No. When someone asks a question, mcpbizapps reads the answer live from 1Password Business through a dedicated integration user and returns it without storing it. The audit log records who asked, which tool ran and the result, with personal fields and free text removed.
1Password Business is a trademark of its owner. mcpbizapps is not affiliated with 1Password; the name describes the connection only.
