iManage Work for Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot
In iManage Work, lawyers and legal staff can ask Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot for the latest version of an agreement in a matter workspace, emails filed this week, who has a document checked out and what changed between two drafts. Workspace security and ethical walls carry over, and filing or profile updates are shown before they are saved. A guided pilot sets the connection up with your records team.

Changes, governed
What the assistant can prepare in iManage Work
The assistant never saves on its own. It prepares the change, the person checks the preview and confirms, and anything above your limits waits for an approver.
- 1 Prepare The assistant drafts the change from the request.
- 2 Preview and confirm The person sees exactly what will change.
- 3 Approve Above your limits, a second person decides.
- 4 Saved and logged Written to iManage Work under a named person.
-
File an email into the correct folder of a matter workspace
The person confirms the workspace and folder; filing into a matter behind an ethical wall is blocked.
-
Update profile fields such as document type and author
Profile edits touching more than twenty documents in one request go to the records manager for approval.
-
Create a new folder in a matter workspace
The matter lead confirms the folder name and location before it is created.
Example rules. During the pilot you set the limits, the approvers and which roles may prepare each change.
Why it needs care
Governance built for iManage Work
Matter workspaces hold privileged advice and client email, and ethical walls decide who may open them. A screened lawyer gets nothing back from the assistant. Filing and profile edits are shown for review first, bulk updates go to the records manager, documents never leave iManage, and the firm can see which matters were searched and by whom.
-

-
Approval rules
Above your limits, a second person approves the change.
-

iManage Work questions
Does it follow iManage security and ethical walls?
Yes. The integration user is given access the way your firm chooses, and mcpbizapps roles follow your matter security and screens, so a lawyer walled off from a matter cannot reach its workspace through the assistant.
Can the assistant compare document versions?
It can summarize what changed between two versions of a document in a workspace, such as new clauses or changed figures. For a formal redline your lawyers keep using the comparison tool the firm already relies on.
Can it file emails into iManage?
It can suggest the workspace and folder for an email and prepare the filing, which the person confirms. Filing into a matter the person is screened from is never offered.
Does mcpbizapps keep a copy of our iManage Work data?
No. When someone asks a question, mcpbizapps reads the answer live from iManage Work through a dedicated integration user and returns it without storing it. The audit log records who asked, which tool ran and the result, with personal fields and free text removed.
iManage Work is a trademark of its owner. mcpbizapps is not affiliated with iManage; the name describes the connection only.
