NetDocuments for Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot

What was added to a client workspace since Monday? Where is the most recent draft of the brief? With NetDocuments connected, lawyers and support staff can ask Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot questions like these, and find emails filed through ndMail or workspaces for long closed matters. Cabinet and workspace access carries over, and filing or profile changes are shown before saving. Firms start with a guided pilot covering the cabinets they choose.

Changes, governed

What the assistant can prepare in NetDocuments

The assistant never saves on its own. It prepares the change, the person checks the preview and confirms, and anything above your limits waits for an approver.

  1. 1 Prepare The assistant drafts the change from the request.
  2. 2 Preview and confirm The person sees exactly what will change.
  3. 3 Approve Above your limits, a second person decides.
  4. 4 Saved and logged Written to NetDocuments under a named person.
  • File an email to a matter workspace

The person confirms the workspace; filing to a matter they cannot already open is never offered.

  • Update profile attributes such as client, matter and document type

The person confirms the values, and changing the client or matter on a filed document needs the records manager to approve.

  • Create a folder inside a matter workspace

A folder inside a workspace the person already works in is created once they confirm its name.

Example rules. During the pilot you set the limits, the approvers and which roles may prepare each change.

Why it needs care

Governance built for NetDocuments

Profile attributes decide where a document lives and who may open it, so a wrong client or matter value can expose a file. The assistant follows your cabinet and workspace access, shows every filing before it happens, and sends client or matter changes to the records manager. Firm risk staff can review which workspaces each person asked about.

  • Sign-in by work email

Only people you invite, with a one-time code. No shared logins.

  • Roles per tool

Each role reaches only the NetDocuments records it needs.

  • View only, if you prefer

Admins can keep a connection to lookups with one switch.

  • A preview first

Every change is shown in full before anything is saved.

  • Approval rules

Above your limits, a second person approves the change.

  • One audit log

Every request tied to a named person, ready for review.

How NetDocuments gets connected

We connect NetDocuments for your team in a guided pilot, on the same gateway every app uses. No code on your side.

  1. 01

    Agree the questions

We list the NetDocuments questions and changes your team needs, and who may use each.

  2. 02

    Connect with your admin

Your NetDocuments administrator creates a dedicated integration user with only that access.

  3. 03

    Test with your people

A small group tries it in Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot while we tune the tools.

  4. 04

    Roll out with rules

Roles, approval limits and the audit log are in place before everyone joins.

NetDocuments questions

Does the assistant follow NetDocuments access rights?

Yes. The integration user reaches only the cabinets you include, and mcpbizapps roles follow the matter access and ethical walls your firm applies, so nobody reaches a workspace through the assistant that they could not open themselves.

Can it read emails filed with ndMail?

Yes. Emails filed to a workspace are documents like any other, so the assistant can list them by date or sender and summarize a thread for people allowed to see that matter.

Will it change client or matter attributes on documents?

Only with approval. Client and matter attributes control where a document lives and who can see it, so the assistant prepares the change and the records manager approves it before it is saved.

Does mcpbizapps keep a copy of our NetDocuments data?

No. When someone asks a question, mcpbizapps reads the answer live from NetDocuments through a dedicated integration user and returns it without storing it. The audit log records who asked, which tool ran and the result, with personal fields and free text removed.

NetDocuments is a trademark of its owner. mcpbizapps is not affiliated with NetDocuments; the name describes the connection only.
