Sage Accounting for Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot
Small business owners and their accountants can ask Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot about Sage Accounting: unpaid sales invoices, purchase invoices due, quotes and estimates still open, unreconciled bank transactions and the figures building up for the next VAT return. Each person sees only what their role covers, and invoices are previewed before saving. Setup is a guided pilot with the business owner or their accountant.

Changes, governed
What the assistant can prepare in Sage Accounting
The assistant never saves on its own. It prepares the change, the person checks the preview and confirms, and anything above your limits waits for an approver.
- 1 Prepare The assistant drafts the change from the request.
- 2 Preview and confirm The person sees exactly what will change.
- 3 Approve Above your limits, a second person decides.
- 4 Saved and logged Written to Sage Accounting under a named person.
-
Turn an accepted estimate into a sales invoice
Invoices above £5,000 need the company director to approve before they are saved.
-
Record a purchase invoice from a supplier email
Purchase invoices from suppliers you have never paid before need the bookkeeper first.
-
Create a credit note for a returned item
Every credit note needs the account owner to agree, whatever the amount.
Example rules. During the pilot you set the limits, the approvers and which roles may prepare each change.
Why it needs care
Governance built for Sage Accounting
Sage Accounting holds a small company’s bank feeds, VAT figures and every customer and supplier balance, often shared with an outside accountant. Staff stay away from the bank and the VAT return. Credit notes always need the account owner, and a first invoice from an unknown supplier goes to the bookkeeper.

Sage Accounting questions
Can the assistant submit our VAT return to HMRC?
No. It can show the figures behind a VAT return so you or your accountant can check them early, and point out transactions with unusual VAT. Submitting under Making Tax Digital stays with the person responsible in Sage Accounting.
Can our accountant use it for several Sage Accounting clients?
Yes. Each client business is connected separately and the practice gets a role for each one. Answers name the business, and every question is logged under the accountant who asked it.
Is this the same as Sage Intacct?
No. This page covers Sage Accounting, the cloud product for small businesses. Sage Intacct is a separate product for larger finance teams and has its own connection and page in our catalog.
Does mcpbizapps keep a copy of our Sage Accounting data?
No. When someone asks a question, mcpbizapps reads the answer live from Sage Accounting through a dedicated integration user and returns it without storing it. The audit log records who asked, which tool ran and the result, with personal fields and free text removed.
Sage Accounting is a trademark of its owner. mcpbizapps is not affiliated with Sage; the name describes the connection only.
