Xero for Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot
Owners and their advisors can ask Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot about Xero: invoices awaiting payment, bills to pay this week, quotes sent, unreconciled bank transactions and spend by tracking category. Invoices and bills show as a preview before saving, and larger ones need approval. Our team connects Xero for your organisation in a guided pilot.

Changes, governed
What the assistant can prepare in Xero
The assistant never saves on its own. It prepares the change, the person checks the preview and confirms, and anything above your limits waits for an approver.
- 1 Prepare The assistant drafts the change from the request.
- 2 Preview and confirm The person sees exactly what will change.
- 3 Approve Above your limits, a second person decides.
- 4 Saved and logged Written to Xero under a named person.
-
Create a draft invoice from an accepted quote
Invoices above £6,000 need the owner’s approval before they move out of draft.
-
Prepare a bill from a supplier email
Bills from suppliers paid for the first time need the bookkeeper to approve.
-
Add a tracking category to bill lines
Recoding to a tracking category changes reports, not totals, so the requester confirms it.
Example rules. During the pilot you set the limits, the approvers and which roles may prepare each change.
Why it needs care
Governance built for Xero
Xero carries a business’s bank feeds, VAT or GST figures and supplier payments, and an outside advisor often has access too. Owner, staff and practice each get separate roles. Invoices above £6,000 need the owner, and the request history shows whether staff or the advisor asked for a change.

Xero questions
Can the assistant reconcile bank transactions in Xero?
It can list unreconciled bank transactions and suggest likely matches to invoices or bills. Reconciling stays with the bookkeeper in Xero, so the person who knows the accounts still makes that call.
Does it help with VAT returns or BAS?
It can show the sales and purchase figures behind a VAT return or BAS period so you can check them early. Filing the return still happens in Xero by the person responsible.
Can our accounting practice use it for many clients?
Yes. Each client organisation is connected separately, the practice gets a role per client, and every answer names the organisation. Requests are logged by the person at the practice who made them.
Does mcpbizapps keep a copy of our Xero data?
No. When someone asks a question, mcpbizapps reads the answer live from Xero through a dedicated integration user and returns it without storing it. The audit log records who asked, which tool ran and the result, with personal fields and free text removed.
Xero is a trademark of its owner. mcpbizapps is not affiliated with Xero; the name describes the connection only.
