Sovos for Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot

Sovos runs filings in many countries, and its status questions come in from all sides. Through Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot, tax and finance staff can ask which VAT returns are due, which e-invoices a tax authority rejected and why, how many 1099 forms need corrections, and what sales tax was set on a transaction. Corrections show as previews and need a tax approver. A guided pilot agrees which Sovos products and countries come first.

Ask in a sentence

What can your team ask Sovos?

Questions from global VAT manager, e-invoicing lead, information reporting analyst and others, answered from live Sovos data and only for the people allowed to see them.

Records it works with

  • Tax determinations
  • VAT returns
  • E-invoices
  • 1099 forms
  • Filing calendar
  • Legal entities
  • Global VAT manager

“Which VAT returns are due in the next 14 days, and which are still waiting for data?”

  • E-invoicing lead

“Which e-invoices sent in Italy this week were rejected, and what error came back?”

  • Information reporting analyst

“How many 1099-NEC forms are ready to file, and how many have a TIN mismatch?”

  • Sales tax analyst

“What rate did Sovos determine for this order shipped to Westchester County, New York?”

  • Tax operations manager

“Which countries in the filing calendar have no return approved yet for this period?”

  • Regional finance director

“How much VAT payable did the Spanish and Portuguese entities report last quarter?”

Changes, governed

What the assistant can prepare in Sovos

The assistant never saves on its own. It prepares the change, the person checks the preview and confirms, and anything above your limits waits for an approver.

  1. 1 Prepare The assistant drafts the change from the request.
  2. 2 Preview and confirm The person sees exactly what will change.
  3. 3 Approve Above your limits, a second person decides.
  4. 4 Saved and logged Written to Sovos under a named person.
  • Correct the vendor address on a 1099 form before filing

Information reporting corrections need the analyst and a second reviewer.

  • Mark a VAT return as reviewed for a country

The global VAT manager approves before any return moves to filing.

  • Add a note to a rejected e-invoice for the billing team

Notes help billing fix the invoice but alter nothing filed, so the e-invoicing lead confirms.

Example rules. During the pilot you set the limits, the approvers and which roles may prepare each change.

Why it needs care

Governance built for Sovos

Sovos sends figures and invoices straight to tax authorities, where an error means penalties and a correction filing. Access follows entity, country and tax type. A return cannot move toward filing until the global VAT manager approves it, and 1099 corrections always get a second reviewer.

  • Sign-in by work email

Only people you invite, with a one-time code. No shared logins.

  • Roles per tool

Each role reaches only the Sovos records it needs.

  • View only, if you prefer

Admins can keep a connection to lookups with one switch.

  • A preview first

Every change is shown in full before anything is saved.

  • Approval rules

Above your limits, a second person approves the change.

  • One audit log

Every request tied to a named person, ready for review.

Sovos questions

Which Sovos products can the assistant cover?

We agree scope in the pilot, for example VAT reporting, e-invoicing, sales tax determination or 1099 reporting. Each product gets its own roles, so a VAT manager and an information reporting analyst reach different records.

Can it explain why an e-invoice was rejected?

Yes. It reads the status and error returned for the e-invoice and explains it in a sentence or two, so billing knows whether a tax ID, a format detail or a missing field needs fixing.

Does it submit filings to tax authorities?

No. Submission stays in Sovos under your filing process. The assistant answers status questions and can prepare reviews and corrections that people confirm and approve before anything moves on to filing.

Does mcpbizapps keep a copy of our Sovos data?

No. When someone asks a question, mcpbizapps reads the answer live from Sovos through a dedicated integration user and returns it without storing it. The audit log records who asked, which tool ran and the result, with personal fields and free text removed.

Sovos is a trademark of its owner. mcpbizapps is not affiliated with Sovos; the name describes the connection only.
