Confluence for Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot

Employees can ask Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot what a Confluence policy page says, which decisions are in the meeting notes, which runbooks mention an old system and which pages nobody has touched in a year. Spaces follow each person's role, and new pages stay as drafts until approved. Restricted spaces are kept out of scope during the guided pilot.

Ask in a sentence

What can your team ask Confluence?

Questions from knowledge manager, product manager, engineering manager and others, answered from live Confluence data and only for the people allowed to see them.

Records it works with

  • Spaces
  • Pages
  • Blog posts
  • Comments
  • Labels
  • Attachments
  • Knowledge manager

“Which pages in the HR Policies space have not been updated in over a year?”

  • Product manager

“Find the requirements page for the invoice export feature and summarize its open questions.”

  • Engineering manager

“Which runbook pages in the Platform space still mention the old database cluster name?”

  • Support agent

“What does our refund policy page say about annual plans cancelled after 30 days?”

  • Program manager

“Summarize the decisions recorded in the Weekly Leadership meeting notes since September.”

  • Technical writer

“Which pages in the Customer Docs space are labeled draft, and who owns them?”

Changes, governed

What the assistant can prepare in Confluence

The assistant never saves on its own. It prepares the change, the person checks the preview and confirms, and anything above your limits waits for an approver.

  1. 1 Prepare The assistant drafts the change from the request.
  2. 2 Preview and confirm The person sees exactly what will change.
  3. 3 Approve Above your limits, a second person decides.
  4. 4 Saved and logged Written to Confluence under a named person.
  • Draft a new page in a space from a template

Pages are saved as drafts; publishing in a company wide space needs the space admin to approve.

  • Add a comment with a suggested correction to a page

Suggested corrections appear as comments only, so the page author decides whether to accept them.

  • Add labels to a set of pages

Labeling more than twenty pages at once needs the space admin to approve.

Example rules. During the pilot you set the limits, the approvers and which roles may prepare each change.

Why it needs care

Governance built for Confluence

Team notes in Confluence sit beside salary bands, incident write-ups and acquisition plans. A person reaches only spaces they could already open. Publishing into a company wide space needs the space admin, as does labeling more than twenty pages. Space admins can review who searched for and changed which pages.

  • Sign-in by work email

Only people you invite, with a one-time code. No shared logins.

  • Roles per tool

Each role reaches only the Confluence records it needs.

  • View only, if you prefer

Admins can keep a connection to lookups with one switch.

  • A preview first

Every change is shown in full before anything is saved.

  • Approval rules

Above your limits, a second person approves the change.

  • One audit log

Every request tied to a named person, ready for review.

How Confluence gets connected

We connect Confluence for your team in a guided pilot, on the same gateway every app uses. No code on your side.

  1. 01

    Agree the questions

We list the Confluence questions and changes your team needs, and who may use each.

  2. 02

    Connect with your admin

Your Confluence administrator creates a dedicated integration user with only that access.

  3. 03

    Test with your people

A small group tries it in Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot while we tune the tools.

  4. 04

    Roll out with rules

Roles, approval limits and the audit log are in place before everyone joins.

Then people use it from the assistant they already have

Confluence questions

Does the assistant respect Confluence page restrictions?

The connection reads through a dedicated integration user, so it only reaches spaces and pages that user is allowed to see. We keep restricted spaces out of scope in the pilot, and mcpbizapps roles then decide which spaces each person may ask about.

Can it answer from Jira and Confluence together?

Yes, when both are connected. A product manager can ask for the requirements page and the Jira issues linked to it in one question, and roles apply to each app separately, so access in one does not open the other.

Does it read attachments on Confluence pages?

It can read common attachments such as documents and spreadsheets on pages in scope. During the pilot we agree whether attachments are included, since they often hold more sensitive material than the page text itself.

Does mcpbizapps keep a copy of our Confluence data?

No. When someone asks a question, mcpbizapps reads the answer live from Confluence through a dedicated integration user and returns it without storing it. The audit log records who asked, which tool ran and the result, with personal fields and free text removed.

Confluence is a trademark of its owner. mcpbizapps is not affiliated with Atlassian; the name describes the connection only.
