Datadog for Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot

Which Datadog monitors are alerting? How did a service's error rate move after a deploy, where does an SLO stand for the month, and what do the logs say about a spike? Engineers and operations leaders ask these in Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot through mcpbizapps. Roles decide which services and log indexes each person reaches, and downtimes need approval. Your SRE lead and our team connect Datadog in a guided pilot.

Ask in a sentence

What can your team ask Datadog?

Questions from SRE, engineering manager, head of operations and others, answered from live Datadog data and only for the people allowed to see them.

Records it works with

  • Monitors
  • Dashboards
  • Downtimes
  • Service level objectives
  • Incidents
  • Logs
  • APM services
  • SRE

“Which monitors tagged team:payments are in Alert state right now, and since when?”

  • Engineering manager

“How did p95 latency on the checkout service change after Tuesday's deploy?”

  • Head of operations

“Are we on track for the 99.9% SLO on the order service this month?”

  • Support lead

“Were there errors in the billing service logs for Northwind Labs this morning?”

  • FinOps lead

“Which services sent the most indexed log volume last week?”

  • On-call engineer

“What changed on the search service in the hour before the latency monitor fired?”

Changes, governed

What the assistant can prepare in Datadog

The assistant never saves on its own. It prepares the change, the person checks the preview and confirms, and anything above your limits waits for an approver.

  1. 1 Prepare The assistant drafts the change from the request.
  2. 2 Preview and confirm The person sees exactly what will change.
  3. 3 Approve Above your limits, a second person decides.
  4. 4 Saved and logged Written to Datadog under a named person.
  • Schedule a downtime to mute a monitor during maintenance

The service owner confirms; downtimes over four hours or on paging monitors need the SRE lead.

  • Declare a Datadog incident from an alert

The on-call engineer confirms; a SEV-1 declaration also needs the incident commander to agree.

  • Add a note to an open incident timeline

The responder reads the drafted note and confirms it before it is posted.

Example rules. During the pilot you set the limits, the approvers and which roles may prepare each change.

Why it needs care

Governance built for Datadog

Datadog shows how production behaves, and its logs can contain customer details. Muting the wrong monitor can hide a real outage. Each role reaches only its own services and log indexes. A proposed downtime lists every monitor it would silence, and long or paging mutes wait for the SRE lead. Requests stay on record with a name.

  • Sign-in by work email

Only people you invite, with a one-time code. No shared logins.

  • Roles per tool

Each role reaches only the Datadog records it needs.

  • View only, if you prefer

Admins can keep a connection to lookups with one switch.

  • A preview first

Every change is shown in full before anything is saved.

  • Approval rules

Above your limits, a second person approves the change.

  • One audit log

Every request tied to a named person, ready for review.

How Datadog gets connected

We connect Datadog for your team in a guided pilot, on the same gateway every app uses. No code on your side.

  1. 01

    Agree the questions

We list the Datadog questions and changes your team needs, and who may use each.

  2. 02

    Connect with your admin

Your Datadog administrator creates a dedicated integration user with only that access.

  3. 03

    Test with your people

A small group tries it in Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot while we tune the tools.

  4. 04

    Roll out with rules

Roles, approval limits and the audit log are in place before everyone joins.

Datadog questions

Can ChatGPT mute a Datadog monitor?

It can prepare a scheduled downtime with a scope and end time. The person sees which monitors will go quiet, confirms, and long or wide downtimes wait for an SRE lead. Downtimes without an end time are not offered.

Can Claude search Datadog logs?

Yes, within the log indexes your role allows and over a limited time range. Sensitive Data Scanner rules keep masking what they already mask, and each search is logged with the person who asked.

Does this replace Bits AI?

No. Bits AI works inside Datadog. mcpbizapps lets people ask from Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot, and the approvals you set for connected tools such as PagerDuty or Jira apply here as well.

Does mcpbizapps keep a copy of our Datadog data?

No. When someone asks a question, mcpbizapps reads the answer live from Datadog through a dedicated integration user and returns it without storing it. The audit log records who asked, which tool ran and the result, with personal fields and free text removed.

Datadog is a trademark of its owner. mcpbizapps is not affiliated with Datadog; the name describes the connection only.
