Grafana Cloud for Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot

Grafana Cloud brings alert rules, dashboards, SLOs and silences together, and mcpbizapps lets people ask about them in Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot: what is firing, what a panel shows for the last day, which silences are active. Queries in PromQL or LogQL run within the folders and data sources a role allows. Silences need approval, and requests are logged. Your Grafana Cloud stack gets linked during a guided pilot.

Ask in a sentence

What can your team ask Grafana Cloud?

Questions from SRE, on-call engineer, engineering manager and others, answered from live Grafana Cloud data and only for the people allowed to see them.

Records it works with

  • Dashboards
  • Alert rules
  • Contact points
  • Notification policies
  • Silences
  • Data sources
  • SLOs
  • SRE

“Which alert rules in the Platform folder are firing right now, and which contact points did they notify?”

  • On-call engineer

“What do the Loki logs for the checkout namespace show in the ten minutes before the alert fired?”

  • Engineering manager

“How has the SLO for the search service tracked over the last 30 days?”

  • Head of operations

“What does the Warehouse Operations dashboard show for scanner errors today?”

  • FinOps lead

“Which teams send the most active metric series to Grafana Cloud Metrics?”

  • Platform engineer

“Which silences are active, who created them and when do they expire?”

Changes, governed

What the assistant can prepare in Grafana Cloud

The assistant never saves on its own. It prepares the change, the person checks the preview and confirms, and anything above your limits waits for an approver.

  1. 1 Prepare The assistant drafts the change from the request.
  2. 2 Preview and confirm The person sees exactly what will change.
  3. 3 Approve Above your limits, a second person decides.
  4. 4 Saved and logged Written to Grafana Cloud under a named person.
  • Create a silence for alerts during a maintenance window

The service owner confirms; silences over two hours or matching critical alerts need the SRE lead.

  • Expire a silence early once work is done

Whoever created the silence confirms, and it ends at once without further approval.

  • Add a panel to a team dashboard

Team dashboards change with their owner's consent; anything in the Executive folder needs that folder's owner.

Example rules. During the pilot you set the limits, the approvers and which roles may prepare each change.

Why it needs care

Governance built for Grafana Cloud

Grafana dashboards and alerts often front many data sources at once, from metrics to logs with request details. A broad silence can hide a real outage. Each role works within its folders and data sources. A silence is shown with its matchers and end time before it starts, and wide ones need approval. Queries are kept for review.

  • Sign-in by work email

Only people you invite, with a one-time code. No shared logins.

  • Roles per tool

Each role reaches only the Grafana Cloud records it needs.

  • View only, if you prefer

Admins can keep a connection to lookups with one switch.

  • A preview first

Every change is shown in full before anything is saved.

  • Approval rules

Above your limits, a second person approves the change.

  • One audit log

Every request tied to a named person, ready for review.

How Grafana Cloud gets connected

We connect Grafana Cloud for your team in a guided pilot, on the same gateway every app uses. No code on your side.

  1. 01

    Agree the questions

We list the Grafana Cloud questions and changes your team needs, and who may use each.

  2. 02

    Connect with your admin

Your Grafana Cloud administrator creates a dedicated integration user with only that access.

  3. 03

    Test with your people

A small group tries it in Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot while we tune the tools.

  4. 04

    Roll out with rules

Roles, approval limits and the audit log are in place before everyone joins.

Then people use it from the assistant they already have

Grafana Cloud questions

Can ChatGPT read Grafana dashboards?

Yes. The assistant reads a dashboard's panels, runs the underlying queries for the time range you ask about, and summarizes what changed, with a link back to the dashboard in Grafana Cloud.

Can it query Prometheus and Loki data in Grafana Cloud?

Yes. It writes PromQL for metrics and LogQL for logs, runs them through the data sources your role allows with time and size limits, and shows each query with the answer.

Does it cover Grafana Cloud IRM?

Yes. Assistants can report on-call shifts, open alert groups and incidents in Grafana Cloud IRM, and prepare acknowledgements for the responder to confirm before anything is sent to the team.

Does mcpbizapps keep a copy of our Grafana Cloud data?

No. When someone asks a question, mcpbizapps reads the answer live from Grafana Cloud through a dedicated integration user and returns it without storing it. The audit log records who asked, which tool ran and the result, with personal fields and free text removed.

Grafana Cloud is a trademark of its owner. mcpbizapps is not affiliated with Grafana Labs; the name describes the connection only.
