Dropbox for Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot
Creative, operations and client teams can ask Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot what was uploaded to a Dropbox team folder this week, which file requests are still open, where the final files for a client went and which shared links never expire. People reach the team folders they already use, and link or file changes are shown first. A guided pilot starts with a few team folders.

Changes, governed
What the assistant can prepare in Dropbox
The assistant never saves on its own. It prepares the change, the person checks the preview and confirms, and anything above your limits waits for an approver.
- 1 Prepare The assistant drafts the change from the request.
- 2 Preview and confirm The person sees exactly what will change.
- 3 Approve Above your limits, a second person decides.
- 4 Saved and logged Written to Dropbox under a named person.
-
Set an expiry date on an active shared link
The person confirms the date; links on client folders need the account lead to approve.
-
Move finished project files into the archive folder
Moving more than 500 files at once needs the team folder owner to approve.
-
Create a file request so a client can upload documents
The account lead confirms the request and the destination folder before the link is created.
Example rules. During the pilot you set the limits, the approvers and which roles may prepare each change.
Why it needs care
Governance built for Dropbox
Client deliverables, raw footage and contracts in Dropbox are often shared through links that outlive the project. Expiry changes on client folder links need the account lead, archive moves over 500 files go to the team folder owner, and new file requests are confirmed because the link leaves the company. Each change carries a name in the log.

Dropbox questions
Can the assistant read large media files in Dropbox?
It works with file names, folders, dates, sizes and version history for every file in scope, and it can read documents and PDFs. Video and design files are described rather than opened.
Can it find shared links that never expire?
Yes. It can list active shared links in a folder, who created them and whether they have an expiry or password, so owners can tighten the ones that matter. Changes are prepared for the owner to confirm.
Does it work with Dropbox file requests?
Yes. It can report which file requests are open and what has been uploaded to each. Creating a new request is prepared for the account lead to confirm, since the link goes to someone outside your company.
Does mcpbizapps keep a copy of our Dropbox data?
No. When someone asks a question, mcpbizapps reads the answer live from Dropbox through a dedicated integration user and returns it without storing it. The audit log records who asked, which tool ran and the result, with personal fields and free text removed.
Dropbox is a trademark of its owner. mcpbizapps is not affiliated with Dropbox; the name describes the connection only.
