Katana for Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot
In a small manufacturing business on Katana, the owner usually asks: which manufacturing orders are blocked by missing materials, which sales orders can ship this week, what a product costs to make and which purchase orders are late. mcpbizapps lets Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot answer, with workshop leads seeing their own orders and buyers their own suppliers. Makers and buyers start in a guided pilot built on your recipes and locations.

Changes, governed
What the assistant can prepare in Katana
The assistant never saves on its own. It prepares the change, the person checks the preview and confirms, and anything above your limits waits for an approver.
- 1 Prepare The assistant drafts the change from the request.
- 2 Preview and confirm The person sees exactly what will change.
- 3 Approve Above your limits, a second person decides.
- 4 Saved and logged Written to Katana under a named person.
-
Create a manufacturing order for a product from a sales order
Orders that consume more than $3,000 of materials need the production manager to approve.
-
Draft a purchase order for short materials
Purchase orders above $2,500 need the owner to approve.
-
Record a stock adjustment after a count
Adjustments over $250 in value need the inventory manager to approve.
Example rules. During the pilot you set the limits, the approvers and which roles may prepare each change.
Why it needs care
Governance built for Katana
Katana ties materials, production and sales together, and its stock values flow into your accounting software. A stock adjustment over $250 goes to the inventory manager, so counts do not quietly change your books. Purchase orders above $2,500 need the owner, and orders using more than $3,000 of materials need the production manager. Month end checks can see who asked for each.

Katana questions
Can the assistant tell us if we can make an order in time?
Yes. Ask about a sales order and it checks stock, open manufacturing orders and materials in Katana, then says what is short and what would need to be bought or made.
Does it work with Katana and our accounting app together?
It reads Katana for production and stock. If you also use QuickBooks Online or Xero, those can be connected separately so questions about invoices and payments go to the right app.
Does mcpbizapps keep a copy of our Katana data?
No. When someone asks a question, mcpbizapps reads the answer live from Katana through a dedicated integration user and returns it without storing it. The audit log records who asked, which tool ran and the result, with personal fields and free text removed.
Katana is a trademark of its owner. mcpbizapps is not affiliated with Katana; the name describes the connection only.
