Vantage for Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot

In Vantage, a cost report shows the month, cost anomaly alerts flag surprises, budgets set limits and virtual tags split costs across teams. mcpbizapps lets people ask about each of these in Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot. Roles decide which workspaces and reports each person sees, and budget and tag changes wait for approval. A guided pilot sets up the connection, starting with one workspace.

Ask in a sentence

What can your team ask Vantage?

Questions from finOps lead, finance analyst, engineering manager and others, answered from live Vantage data and only for the people allowed to see them.

Records it works with

  • Cost reports
  • Virtual tags
  • Budgets
  • Cost anomaly alerts
  • Segments
  • Resource reports
  • Saved filters
  • FinOps lead

“Which cost anomaly alerts fired this week, and what services drove each one?”

  • Finance analyst

“What does the Engineering Spend cost report show for October, compared with its budget?”

  • Engineering manager

“How much of our Snowflake and Datadog spend does the team virtual tag assign to my team?”

  • CFO

“What is total cloud and software spend this quarter, by provider?”

  • Platform engineer

“Which idle resources in the resource reports cost the most each month?”

  • Head of engineering

“How much did spend on GPU instances grow over the last three months?”

Changes, governed

What the assistant can prepare in Vantage

The assistant never saves on its own. It prepares the change, the person checks the preview and confirms, and anything above your limits waits for an approver.

  1. 1 Prepare The assistant drafts the change from the request.
  2. 2 Preview and confirm The person sees exactly what will change.
  3. 3 Approve Above your limits, a second person decides.
  4. 4 Saved and logged Written to Vantage under a named person.
  • Create a budget for a cost report

The FinOps lead approves budgets above $15,000 a month.

  • Add a value to a virtual tag for a new team

The FinOps lead confirms, since it changes how costs are split in every report using the tag.

  • Share a cost report with a department head

The report owner confirms; reports with vendor contract costs need the finance lead.

Example rules. During the pilot you set the limits, the approvers and which roles may prepare each change.

Why it needs care

Governance built for Vantage

Vantage shows spend across clouds and software vendors, including contract and discount details. A changed virtual tag can shift costs between teams in every report. People see only the workspaces and reports their role allows. Budgets and tag values are shown before saving, and anything that moves costs between teams waits for the FinOps lead.

  • Sign-in by work email

Only people you invite, with a one-time code. No shared logins.

  • Roles per tool

Each role reaches only the Vantage records it needs.

  • View only, if you prefer

Admins can keep a connection to lookups with one switch.

  • A preview first

Every change is shown in full before anything is saved.

  • Approval rules

Above your limits, a second person approves the change.

  • One audit log

Every request tied to a named person, ready for review.

How Vantage gets connected

We connect Vantage for your team in a guided pilot, on the same gateway every app uses. No code on your side.

  1. 01

    Agree the questions

We list the Vantage questions and changes your team needs, and who may use each.

  2. 02

    Connect with your admin

Your Vantage administrator creates a dedicated integration user with only that access.

  3. 03

    Test with your people

A small group tries it in Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot while we tune the tools.

  4. 04

    Roll out with rules

Roles, approval limits and the audit log are in place before everyone joins.

Then people use it from the assistant they already have

Vantage questions

Can Claude read Vantage cost reports?

Yes. The assistant reads the cost reports your role may see, applies the filters and grouping you ask for, and returns totals and trends with a link to the report in Vantage.

Does it include costs beyond cloud providers?

Yes, if Vantage already collects them. Spend from providers such as Snowflake, Datadog or MongoDB Atlas that you connect to Vantage can be asked about the same way as cloud costs.

Can an assistant change virtual tags?

It can prepare the change and show which reports it affects. A FinOps lead approves before anything is saved, because virtual tags decide how shared costs are split between teams.

Does mcpbizapps keep a copy of our Vantage data?

No. When someone asks a question, mcpbizapps reads the answer live from Vantage through a dedicated integration user and returns it without storing it. The audit log records who asked, which tool ran and the result, with personal fields and free text removed.

Vantage is a trademark of its owner. mcpbizapps is not affiliated with Vantage; the name describes the connection only.
